Which fuel should you use for your equipment?

There are many reasons to choose Aspen fuel, but with all the different options, which is the best alkylate fuel choice for you?

Aspen’s two main engineered fuel products are Aspen 2 and Aspen 4. Aspen 2 is designed for use in two-stroke engines, and Aspen 4 in four-stroke engines.

There are some other important reasons why these fuels shouldn’t be mixed at random. For instance, Aspen 2 contains two percent fully synthetic engine oil. Most two-stroke engines are designed to run on fuel in which a small proportion of oil is added, to act as a lubricant. However, in four-stroke engines, the lubricant for the engine usually comes from a separate oil sump. If you’re not sure whether your engine is a two-stroke or four-stroke model, check whether there’s a separate oil sump or dipstick. If there is, it’s a four-stroke engine, and so you should use Aspen 4.

There are exceptions to every rule

Rules of thumb are always worth knowing, but every rule does have exceptions. In this case, some two-strokes do have a separate oil tank and for these, Aspen 4 must be used.

You must find out what type of engine you have before filling your tank. For example, if you have a two-stroke engine without a separate oil tank and run it without mixing in any oil, there would be no lubricant in the crankcase. This will cause the engine to cut out.

Aspen +

In addition to Aspen 2 and Aspen 4, we also offer Aspen+.

Aspen+ is a high performance fuel designed for maximum performance. It can be used in cars, motorbikes, snowmobiles, go-karts and boats. The even quality and density of this high octane fuel allow for superior engine fine-tuning.

Aspen+ has an extra-long shelf life and under the right conditions can be stored beyond five years. This ethanol-free fuel also is virtually free from benzene and other aromatics.
